Patna, July 9(BiharTimes): Security arrangements have been significantly strengthened at the revered Mahavir Temple in Patna to ensure transparency in the counting of devotees’ donations, following allegations of embezzlement at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
According to officials of the Shri Mahavir Mandir Nyas Samiti, enhanced monitoring measures have been put in place in the temple’s donation counting room. The facility is now under continuous CCTV surveillance, and strict instructions have been issued to prevent entry of any unauthorised persons during the counting process.
Saayan Kunal, member secretary of the Nyas Samiti, said that a total of six CCTV cameras have been installed in the counting room to ensure accountability. He added that the entire process is conducted in a systematic and transparent manner.
“Cash is manually sorted, counted, packed and sealed in the presence of bank officials every Wednesday and Thursday,” Kunal said, underlining the temple administration’s commitment to maintaining trust among devotees.
The move comes in the wake of controversy surrounding alleged irregularities in handling donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, prompting temple authorities in Patna to adopt stricter safeguards.
Mahavir Temple, one of the most prominent religious sites in Bihar, witnesses a large influx of devotees and substantial daily offerings, making robust oversight of donation handling a critical administrative priority.
